During the 2014-2015 school year and in partnership with DFI, local students from Frankfort High School spent time exploring the history and development of Downtown Frankfort while learning about topics like urban planning, economic development, and changes in city centers over the past 100 years.
As part of their final project, teams of youth selected buildings downtown, many of which were empty or underutilized to research. Students were asked to research the history of their chosen buildings, including information about the architecture and previous uses/tenants. They were then asked to suggest possible current or future uses for the buildings, taking into account the building size, location, and the potential customer base a proposed business could reach.
