Downtown Frankfort, Inc. is a Nationally Accredited Main Street Program in Frankfort, Kentucky. The goal of Downtown Frankfort, Inc. is to stimulate downtown economic development in Frankfort, and is a partnership between the City of Frankfort, Franklin County Fiscal Court, as well as corporate and private sponsors. We are a member and committee driven, non-profit organization that is overseen by a Board of Directors and administered by an Executive Director.
The genesis of Downtown Frankfort, Inc began in 1989 when a group of concerned property and business owners came together to address the needs of Frankfort’s downtown commercial district. They adopted, and we still use, the National Trust for Historic Preservation Main Street Program’s innovative, four-point approach which focuses on:

Downtown Frankfort, Inc. (DFI) is a Designated Kentucky Main Street Program (KYMS) community. KYMS is the oldest statewide Main Street network in the nation, administered by the Kentucky Heritage Council/State Historic Preservation Office under the direction of the National Main Street Center. The goal of DFI is to facilitate downtown revitalization, public-private partnerships and economic development within the context of historic preservation. Through KYMS, more than $4.5 billion has been invested in Kentucky communities since 1979.
