Frankfort ArtWalk

In addition to the many wonderful offerings associated with the Governor's Derby Celebration, more than 25 downtown venues will open their doors to the public free-of-charge to showcase new area artists as well as established masters. Nearly 100 artists' work will be featured. Artwalk last two hours longer than Derby Celebration, until 2 p.m.

Also, there will be two (2) children's art activities, a free dance class for all ages with free refreshments and live music at some venues. The Trolley will be running Downtown loops to ferry you and to add to an enjoyable experience! ArtWalk maps will be available at many Downtown locations and can be picked up at the DFI tent on Derby morning. DFI extends special thanks to Jim Beam Brands for sponsoring this event.

18Lloyd's Kentucky, Inc (200 W Main) History of the building and its murals: On March 18, 1916, the doors were opened on the new State National Bank Building at 200 West Main Street, Frankfort, Kentucky. The building was unique in that the exterior façade was complete with white terra cotta and granite. The inside west wall was bare until 1937 at which time Emil Terlinden was commissioned to paint three murals. Terlinden, 60 years old at the time, was from Cincinnati, Ohio.
Each mural represents an event or place in the history of Frankfort. The first mural is a painting of the old covered bridge at St. Clair Street. The second is a representation of General Lafayette being greeted by Senator John Brown's family at Liberty Hall. The third depicts Daniel Boone overlooking Frankfort from a high point at the Frankfort Cemetery.
The building is presently owned by John Paul Broderson and occupied by Lloys Kentucky, Inc., Patrick H. Talley, President.Back to Map
